Postal Service to Announce Amended Closing and Consolidation Plan on Thursday, May 17

The National Office of the NPMHU has been notified that the Postal Service will be announcing – at noontime on Thursday, May 17, 2012 – an amended closing and consolidation plan that will reduce the scope and delay the timing of previously announced closings and consolidations.  View the notification letter here.

An earlier moratorium adopted by the Postal Service ended on May 15, 2012.  Tomorrow’s announcement is expected to include a phased-in plan for several dozen closings or consolidations this August, as well as a plan for additional closings or consolidations early in 2013.

Attached to this web posting are copies of stand-up talks that management officials will be delivering this evening, starting at approximately 10 p.m.

The parties continue to negotiate over the terms of a possible early retirement incentive (VERA), and details will be announced if and when those talks reach a successful conclusion.

More details will be available tomorrow.  Please visit the NPMHU website again for the latest information.
